故宮，意為過去的皇宮，就是過去人們常說的紫禁城，位于北京市中心。
故宮建成于明永樂十八年（1420年），占地72萬平方米，建筑面積16萬平方米，有宮殿建筑9000多間，是中國(guó)乃至世界現(xiàn)存最大最完整的古代宮殿建筑群。
